 Personal ambition and greed are two characteristics that are ruining the trust of consumers towards businesses.  I agree with the reading that the American people have lost trust in those running major corporations.  I was surprised about the poll that listed 90% of people who felt they couldn’t trust those individuals who were running companies.   It does seem the companies seem to look after their investors and shareholders instead of the public.  Businesses should exist to not only find success but to build something that matters so they can help those around the world who are not as blessed as we are.   Another amazing song title from this weeks Broadway show.  Mama Mia knew the importance of having money.  This last week I was sitting in Sunday School when an older gentleman in the backrow said, "When it comes to money there are two options, you can have money, or you can be poor.  I have had both and I can tell you that it is better to have money."   We all laughed but I believe he is correct as long we keep things in perspective.  The reading taught us that money was power.   Look at the amazing things John Hunstman has done because he had money.   We are from a small town in Wyoming so when my mom got cancer we felt so blessed that there was a place called the Huntsman Cancer Institute that didn't care what kind of insurance we had or that we were from a small town in Wyoming.  They helped save my mom's life because of one man and his choice of what to do with his money.   Money can also be a detriment to our h...

 When I was first at college, I was hired to be an assistant manager for a small sporting goods store.  The owner was not from Utah but from California.  When the time came to hire a few new salespeople, he only had one request.  He wanted me to hire honest people, and people who could easily talk to strangers.  Then he said I can't legally ask this but can you use your weird "Mormon" bat sense and find me those return missionaries?  Besides being ethically inappropriate, I did understand his desire.  He simply wanted honest people and he assumed that a return missionaries would be a good choice.  We learned this week that honesty and integrity matter in the workplace.   Time after time we hear terrible stories of managers stealing from their clients, or partners embezzling funds from the company.  We need to decide beforehand where are guardrails will be.  We must stick to those, so we do not get caught up in the pressure to p...

  Yesterday I was blessed to take my youngest daughter to the Broadway tour of Lion King.  There are countless gospel and business analogies you can draw from this show.  The one that stuck out to me is in the song Circle of Life.  I have two children who have recently been married.  They are attending college living in tiny apartments and saving extra change to go to Fizz for their date nights.  There are days when I want to fly in and save them all the stress and hardships.   Education is one of the ways that we can be comfortable now.   We knew that the BS, MS, MS, and PhD for my husband would be difficult.  We knew that my choosing to be a stay-at-home mom when our kiddos were tiny was also a hard choice.  It was these choices back then that shaped and molded our family.
